Specifications called for this wood-burner to haul 280 tons up a 1% grade on the Wiggins, South Carolina timber harvester's rails. The Charleston Mill later came under the Westmoreland Lumber Company's control and with it the 4. The 4 would later work for Hilton-Dodge Lumber.
