Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 34, p. 280. Works number was 34399 in March 1910.
The specifications for this logging Mogul noted that its intended railroad in Mississippi featured a "Y" with 25 degrees of curvature and track weighing either 45 or 60 lb/yard (22.5 or 30 kg/metre). The F & G was built west-to-east roughly parallel to the north shore of Lake Ponchartrain from Fernwood to Tylertown and Kokomo.
The engine's estimated adhesion weight was entered as 85,000 lb (38,555 kg) and engine weight as 97,000 lb (43,999 kg). Sale price was $10,110. One can only imagine the kaleidescope of feelings that lay behind the note added by "FAH" to the specs on Christmas Eve more than 4 years later. It records the contents of a letter dated 12/13/[19]14 from P E Cheatham in which he stated that the weight on the drivers actually came to 95,000 lb and engine weight amounted to 106,000 lb.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, FAH added "See also note in same letter about stronger springs."
