Louisiana & Pine Bluff Company 2-6-0 "Mogul" Locomotives in the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 14 (Locobase 11097)

Data from Logging Locomotives 1913 (Philadelphia, Pa: Baldwin Locomotive Works, 1913), p. 14 and DeGolyer, Volume 43, p. 262. See the Tap Line Summaries archived at the Texas Transportation Archive [link], last accessed 13 January 2012. Works numbers were 36140 in February 1911 and 38917 in December 1912.

These Moguls went to work on the Louisiana & Pine Bluff Railway, a subsidiary of the Frost-Johnson Lumber Company. The railroad appears in the ICC's consideration of "tap lines" -- railroads who built spurs to extract resources (especially timber), but which claimed to be common carriers. The ICC decided that since a common carrier could not discriminate in rate making among customers, the various arrangements crafted over years were unlawful.
