Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class F28 (Locobase 5837)

The data from "New Locomotives from the Rogers Locomotive Works," American Engineer and Railroad Journal, Volume LXIX, No 2 (February 1895), pp. 83-84. See also "Shop Notes -- New York, Susquehanna & Western Railroad, North Paterson Shops", AERJ, Vol LXIX, #13 (28 November 1895) p. 553. Works numbers were 4971-4973 in June 1894, 4985 in August, 4986-4991 in 5017-5019, 5024-5027 in December, and 5028-5030 in January 1895.

This Mogul is relatively large for the time with good "numbers". After about eleven months in service, the AERJ heard from the manager of the Susie Q's new Moguls and reported that Mr Ennis was "much pleased ...Repair bills on these engines are very light."
