Arkansas timber invited new railroad construction and Prescott was established by Ozan Lumber Company as the southernmost terminus of a 31-mile connection with Highland with lines that ran out further into the woods. The Tap Line summary highlighted the how the road was "...substantially and permanently built, with 54 and 63 pound rail laid on gravel ballast" and that it had a substantial percentage of outside business.
The P & NW shipped forest products and cement as well as Elberta peaches from an 2,000-acre orchard established in 1910.
Years later (i.e., after 1940), the railroad sold the 14 to Meriwether Gravel of Lewisville, Ark.
