Rockwood & Tennessee River 2-6-0 "Mogul" Locomotives in the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 8 (Locobase 12358)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 22, p. 122. Works number was 16737 in May 1899.

The Roane Iron Company operated the 5 1/2 miles of track known as the R & TR as a common carrier until 1898. When this Mogul began service, however, the line had reverted to a supply road for iron ore bound for the furnace at Rockwood. Standard-gauge railroad construction led to this railroad's abandonment in 1911.

The 8 went on to serve the Wellington & Powellsville Railroad in North Carolina's Bertie County.
