Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 4 (Locobase 13945)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 47, p. 241. See also a brief history of the railroad at the Friends of the Stewartstown Railroad site ([link], last accessed 14 March 2012.) Works number was 40016 in June 1913.

The "farmer's railroad" ran in southern York County's Deer Creek Valley in Pennsylvania just above the Maryland border. After it took over the New Park & Fawn Grove, it measured a full 16 miles in length. The Stewartstown nevertheless remained in service for decades after its opening in 1885.
