Poitevent & Favre Company 2-6-2 "Prairie" Locomotives in the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 3 (Locobase 14145)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 48, p. 249. Works number was 40732 in October 1913.

As the P & F set up its new sawmill in Mandeville, La, it bought some new locomotives. Two of them were the double-ended four-coupleds shown in Locobase 14302. The 3, which was ordered between the two smaller engines, weighed almost twice as much and clearly was the major motive power on the logging road.

Like the others, the 3 lost its home in 1924 and wound up on the Hammond Lumber Company of Oak View, Wash.
