Southern Railway & Navigation 2-6-2 "Prairie" Locomotives in the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 30 (Locobase 14061)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist Universitym Volume 45, p. 136. Works number was 40948 in November 1913.

The Southern did not operate the 30 for long before selling it to the F B Williams Cypress Company in January 1916. The engine was to placed in "good condition" using parts supplied by Baldwin's Extra Work Department.

Williams Cypress later sold the 30 to the Orange Grove Plantation and Orange Grove sold it to Sterling Sugar, which operated the little Mogul for years (possibly until 1948).
