Gates Lumber Company 2-6-2 "Prairie" Locomotives in the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 7 (Locobase 13719)

Data from DeGolyer, Volume 36, p. 150. See also The Encyclopedia of Arkansas History and Culture entry on the timber industry at [link], last accessed 13 January 2012. Works number was 36043 in February 1911.

Locobase cannot establish what the "W & SV" that was to be lettered on the tender might actually have been. Gates Lumber Company was headquartered in Wilmar, Ark. The little logging Prairie in this entry - a standard type sold by Baldwin all over the South and West - wound up working for Crossett Lumber.
