Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Sophus Jacobson (Locobase 4062)

Data from [link], supplemented by DeGolyer, Volume 80, pp. 298+. Works number was 59173 in May 1926.

Split saddle-tanker served Simpson Logging on their Peninsular Railway in Shelton, Wash, where the specifications indicated a maximum grade of 5% (or "possibly 6%") on 60 lb/yard (30 kg/metre) rail around 30 degree (193 foot/59 metre radii).

Like the other Baldwin 2-6-6-2 tanks, all four of 13's cylinders were served by piston valves--8" (203 mm) diameter for HP, 12" (305 mm) for the LP cylinders.

The 13 put in 30 years beforel her retirement in 1956, after which she was scrapped.
