Cambria & Indiana 2-8-0 "Consolidation" Locomotives in the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 14 (Locobase 14597)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 59, p. 371. Works numbers were 53183-53184 in April 1920.

Note the long-stroke cylinders, which were fed by 14" (356 mm) piston valves. Firebox heating surface area included 26 sq ft (2.4 sq m) in four arch tubes.

Never leaving the western Pennsylvania coal road, the 14 and 15 served until June 1944. Why they were retired in the middle of World War Two is worth further study.
