Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 6 (Locobase 5587)

Data comes from the Texas Transportation Museum website [link] (20 June 2003), which also styles itself as the Longhorn & Western Railroad. See also DeGolyer, Volume 36, p. 85 and George C. Werner, "MOSCOW, CAMDEN AND SAN AUGUSTINE RAILROAD," Handbook of Texas Online ([link]), accessed July 21, 2013. Published by the Texas State Historical Association.. Works number was 35816 in January 1911.

Wholly owned by the WT Carter & Brother lumber company, the MC&SA ran for 6.8 miles (11 km) in St Augustine county in East Texas. This little Consolidation served the railway as a switcher for decades, burning (at least at first) pine slabs. 1929 saw the engine's conversion from wood-burning to oil-firing.

Out of service in 1956 with 90,000 miles (144,900 km) on its boiler. The TTM comments that this locomotive will probably never run again because it has a riveted boiler, which were outlawed in Bexar County in 1925. Georgetown, Texas volunteers had planned to restore it, but the engine was delivered to the TTM in 1984.
