Sharp & Fellows 2-8-0 "Consolidation" Locomotives in the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 31 (Locobase 12514)

Data from "Equipment and Supplies - Locomotive Building," Railway Age Gazette, Vol 48, #4 (28 January 1910), p 214. Works number was 47766 in April 1910.

Of the ten wide-firebox Consolidations orphaned by the Buffalo & Susquehanna when the line went into receivership before their delivery in 1910, the 171 waited the longest to find a new home. It was 1915 before the 171 was sold to Sharp & Fellows Construction.

In 1917, Nevada Consolidated Copper assigned the engine, now renumbered 97, to the Nevada Northern. The NN operated the 97 until 1952.
