Shannon-Arizona 2-8-0 "Consolidation" Locomotives in the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 2 (Locobase 14075)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 45, p. 208. Works number was 33958 in October 1909.

The S-A had only been incorporated in March 1909 and this Consolidation arrived very shortly afterward. Its remit was to scale the 3.4% grades and very tight 35-degree curves (equates to radii of 166 feet or 51 metres). A few months later, the S-A bought a very similar engine from the Moctezuma Copper Company; see Locobase 13231.
