Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 23/C-34 - 27.2 (Locobase 7818)

Data from MP SUBS 7 - 1935 Locomotive Diagrams supplied in May 2005 by Allen Stanley from his extensive Rail Data Exchange. Works numbers 53007 and 54381-54382 in 1913.

Locobase 7819 describes the orgins of this southern Texas railroad. The current entry shows a Consolidation of modest proportions and small drivers; few superheated 2-8-0s were as small.

The three engines were among the newest of the SAU&G's stud when it was taken over by the New Orleans, Texas & Mexico in the 1920s. 1003 and 1001 were scrapped at Palestine, Tex in May and September 1934, respectively.
