Class 14 / B-4 (Locobase 12281)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 21, p. 196. See also at [link], last accessed 29 October 2022. Works number was 16273 in October 1898 and 18675-18676 in February 1901.

Chartered before the Civil War, the A&NC ran from Goldsboro, NC to New Bern and on to the Inner Banks, where Morehead City provided the terminus on the west side. By the time the railroad ordered the 14 in 1898, the total distance was 95 miles (153 lm). In 1904, the Norfolk & Southern leased the A&NC, continuing to operate it until l935, when the A&NC withdrew the lease.
