Greater cylilnder diameter distinguished the 3 from other StL&A American-type Eight wheelers; Locobase 3146 describes the two identical locomotives delivered to the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago & St. Louis earlier in 1895 as the Big Four's 200-201..

The 3 (renumbered from 13) landed on the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago & St Louis (Big Four) as their 202.
