Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 32, p. 312. Works number was 33015 in October 1908.
The NOS was a short line that headed south from New Orleans into the Delta. In 1908, it leased the New Orleans, Fort Jackson & Grand Isle, which began service in 1891 and ran south to Buras, La some 60 miles away. The two merged in 1911 and took the name New Orleans Southern & Grand Isle. At this time, the NOS & GI had its own station in New Orleans.
Financial struggles led to receivership and the railroad was sold in 1916 to the New Orleans & Lower Coast, which came under Missouri Pacific control in 1926.
NB: All heating surface areas are estimates. They are based on the known figures given in the Baldwin specfications for the Western Railways of Havana engine 21 of 1893 described in Locobase 12074, which had the same tube count and lengths only 1/2" longer and a firebox whose length was 3/16" shorter, 3/8" narrower, and a depth at the rear only 1/2" less.
