Atlantic, Valdosta & Western 4-6-0 "Ten-Wheeler" Locomotives in the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 100 (Locobase 12263)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 21, p. 148. Works number was 15772 in March 1898, 16246 in October, and 17941 in July 1900.

Locobase estimates the heating surfaces based on the otherwise identical dimensions (down to the 1/4" in tube length) of the Pearl & Leaf River's #8 from 1902 (Locobase 11747).

The AV & W was taken over by the Georgia Southern & Florida in 1902 and 100-101 became 141-142.

The GS & F sold the 142 to the Ocilla Southern in October 1915 as their 51. The OS operated the 51 until 1924 when the road was abandoned. 51 then went to Weaver Loughridge Lumber. In 1916, the GS & F sold the 141 and 143 to East Coast Lumber.
