Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 39, p. 163. Works numbers were 36292, 36291 in March 1911 and 37050 in November.
When the Agricola de Colombres had to forego the delivery of six Ten-wheelers in early 1911, Baldwin was able to place these orphans on several short lines in the United States.
One Rock Island Southern locomotive was redirected to the Alabama, Tennessee & Northern (see Locobase 13330). The other two went to the RIS, an unusual combination of electric traction and steam service. Chartered as interurban Western Illinois Traction Company, it was reorganized as the Rock Island Southern Traction Company in 1905. The Eastern Division was all-electric between Monmouth and Galesburg. Steam provided freight service between Monmouth and Rockford in the north and these engines operated on that segment.
