Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 30 (Locobase 4791)

Data from Railway and Locomotive Engineering, Volume 20, #1 (July 1907), pp. 310-311.

According to [link], this Catskill railroad took delivery of these engines in two 6-locomotive batches (builder numbers 39952-39957 and 43061-43066). A builder's photo shows a high-pitched boiler with tapered second course Four were superheated and had their cylinders enlarged to 21 x 26" in 1923-1924.

Except for #31, all were taken into New York Central service when the U&D was absorbed in February 1932. At that point they were renumbered (along with an earlier, lighter class) in the 800 series.
