Raritan River 4-6-2 "Pacific" Locomotives in the USA

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 15 (Locobase 12847)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 53, p. 402. Works number was 44064 in September 1916.

This was a freight Pacific, a type rarely encountered. It wasn't overendowed with firebox heating surface area, even when one includes the 18.8 sq ft (1.75 sq m) in three arch tubes.

It served the RRRR for over 30 years until it wrecked in October 1948 near the Pennsylvania Railroad interchange.
