Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 1 (Locobase 13070)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Volume 30, p. 154. Works number was 29574 in November 1906.

At least one of the lines of the French-owned company connected Ponce and Coamo through Juana Diaz. Off the main line near Ponce Playa ran a 6 1/2-km (4-mile) branch to the eastern bank of the Bucana. This engine -- apparently the very first for the railway established earlier that year -- was ordered from Baldwin by Arthur Koppel, then operating in Brussels.
