Guanica Centrale 2-8-0 Locomotives in USA-Puerto_Rico

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 7 (Locobase 14760)

Data from DeGolyer, Vol 63, pp. 257. Works numbers were 53957-53958 in November 1920.

These small, oil-fired plantation Consolidations augmented the power available to Puerto Rican sugar processor that operated them. Their use of piston valves (8"/203 mm) in diameter) to supply saturated steam was unusual, but their 40 lb/yard (20 kg/metre) rail weight was not. Maximum grades were held to a modest 1.04% and maximum curves amounted to 16 degrees.

The 8 would later work for the American Railroad of Puerto Rico as their 20.
