Gran Ferrocarril del Tachira 0-4-4 Locomotives in Venezuela

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class Catatumbo (Locobase 15385)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Vol 79, p. 182. Works number was 60566 in July 1928.

At least as far as Baldwin was concerned, this rear-bogie tank diverged from an earlier pattern by using a truck to support the rear tank. The oil tank rode over the boiler as did a 300 US gallon (1,136 litre) saddle tank for part of the water supply. The rear tank carried 400 gallons (1,514 litres) of water and had enough fuel space for 1/2 cord of wood.
