Yugoslav State 4-6-2 Locomotives in Yugoslavia

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 05 (Locobase 1714)

Data from A[nthony] E[dward] Durrant, The Steam Locomotives of Eastern Europe (Newton Abbot:David & Charles, 1966),; and "Lokomotivska Serija 05" in Skice I Glavni Podatci Lokomotiva (Zagreb, Yugoslavia: Jugoslovenski Zelnice, 1955, 1957) diagram book, p. 4. (Many thanks to Aljaz Skarlovnik for his 19 July 2019 email supplying more information about these locomotives.) Works numbers were 9607-9646 in 1930.

Part of a three-type procurement described in Locobases 1714-1716, which show Class 05 4-6-2, Class 06 2-8-2, and Class 30 2-10-0, respectively. Locobase notes that all three designs rolled on six axles with adhesion and axle loading requirements doubtless dictating the variations.

These Pacifics hauled expresses from Beograd (Belgrade) to Nis or Slavonski Brod. Renumbered 05.001-040 in 1933.
