Bone is a city in Tunisia, which was then part of the French colony of Algiers; the Bone-Guelma was based in Algiers. Including its extensions, the B-G encompassed 705 route miles (1,134 route km). Its main line ran from Suk (Souk) Ahras in Algeria up the Majerda river's valley to Tunis, branching to Bizerta as well. The two orders from the B-G et Prolongemonts reflected two sets of requirements. The quartet in the current entry clearly were intended for light freight duty. As Baldwin was producing the low-drivered Mogul tanks for the metre gauge that shown in Locobase 12378, it was also turning out this sextet of larger engines with taller drivers for the 4 foot 9-inch (1450-mm) gauge.
