Data from "Some Past and Present Russian Locos", Locomotive Magazine, Volume XXI [21] (15 November 1915), p. 246 and Volume XXII [22] (15 March 1916), p. 55. Works numbers were 1604-1611.
As noted in Locobase 20511, the LM account provides information supplied by G F Tyas to LM's author about 19th Century Russian locomotives. This Leeds product was built in greater numbers than any of the other four Kitson products shown in Locobases 20510-20513.
Unlike the other 2-4-0s, this locomotive didn't require a spark-arresting stack. Its steam dome sat over the front carrying axle. Its cab provided more shelter than contemporary English passenger engines, but less than those fitted on more northerly engines.
