Data from American Engineer & Railroad Journal (AERJ), Volume LXIX, No 10 (October 1895), p. 473. Works numbers were 1579-1580 in April 1895.
The AERJ report describes these little tanks as performing "switching work of the severest kind" which called for a more substantial frame than the dimensions might otherwise indicate. The article also noted the "new device" fitted to the pony trucks at each end of the engine. The device was a set of curved inclined paths up which a pair of rollers would ride as the locomotive entered a curve. The incline encouraged the truck to center itself.
