Data from "'Garratt' Patent Locomotives for the New Cape Central Railway", Volume XXIX [29] (15 September 1923), p. 256-257; and "Natal Navigation Colliery, Design No.1125", Beyer-Garrrat Patent Articulated Locomotives (Manchester, England: Beyer-Peacock & Company Limited, 1931), archived on flickr's Historical Railway Images at [], et seq, p. 47.. Virtually identical to the Trans-Zambezi locomotives. Works number was 6206 in 1924.
Natal Navigation Collieries and Estate Co purchased an engine that was identical to the New Cape Railway G-class Garratts (Locobase 747) and the Trans-Zambezi Garratts described in Locobase 718 . All had Walschaert gear, piston valves for all four simple-expansion cylinders, a superheater, and a Belpaire firebox.
The NNC locomotive hauled coal trains from the pits to the main line which branched off from Hatting Spruit on the SAR.
