Data from "New Tank Locomotives, Ottoman Railway (Smyrna, Aidin, Diner)", Locomotive Magazine, Volume XVIII [18] (15 January 1912), p. 4. See also Trains of Turkey website at [], last accessed 25 January 2016. Works numbers were 3416-3418.
A large "banking" (helper) engine with a prominent Belpaire firebox and small tanks, this large trio headed for the only English-owned railway remaining in Asia Minor (Turkey). They repeated the 1906 0-8-0 design (Locobase 1623) in many respects, but sacrificed some fuel and water capacity for a shorter wheelbase.
The locomotives were both powerful and durable, remaining in service both on the ORC and its successor, the Turkish State Railway, for decades.
