Data from Roy V Wright (Ed.) 1922 Locomotive Cyclopedia of American Practice, Sixth Edition (New York: Simmons-Boardman Publishing Company, 1922), 1013. See also Jim Livesey's comments in his 14 May 2008 post in the "Re: Rare film clip of An American built 2-10-0 in North Korea" thread of the Railway Preservation News blog at [], last accessed 21 January 2024. Alco-Schenectady' works numbers were 61491-61516 in June 1919.
"DK" expands to represent the transliterated phonetic "dekapoddo" or "decapod". Obviously satisfied with the power Alco's decapods brought to the SMR, the railway's own well-equipped Shahekou shops produced another 36 betwen 1921-1923.
Hauling heavy freight trains for decades, they served Japanese and later People's Republic of China for decades. One was spotted in use in 1980.
