. These little radial tanks were developed after the DRG's experience with the Bavarian GtL 4/4/ 0-8-0Ts (Locobase 6036) showed the need for more speed. Krauss responded with 5 in 1929, 16 in 1930, 16 in 1931, and 24 in 1932-1933.
The locomotives proved to be unable to run much faster than their successors -- 45 km/h (28 mph) So the DRG turned to a conversion of 29 of the earlier engines into a more successful 2-8-0T; see Locobase 6035.
Most of them served for decades, the last retiring in 1966.
