According to [], last accessed 7 June 2006, this tramway ran in Central Java. It was constructed between 1897 and 1914 and totalled 373 km (231 miles). Over a fifteen-year period ending in 1907, Beyer, Peacock delivered a series of 0-4-0T tram sets for the trains that served the 26 sugar mills on the line.
Fifteen years later the company added this sextet of Tenwheelers to take advantage of a newly expanded main line. Each locomotive came equipped with a Knorr-Bremse feed water heater and purifier that fed water to the boiler through the rear steam dome. As in most BP locomotives, a square-shouldered Belpaire firebox created the steam.
According to the site's author, Indra Krishnamurti, "It became a significant partner to the SS [the principal state railway] in the Jakarta-Semarang passenger trains."
