This was the first of two batches of "Luxembourg Engerths" supplied to the GLRy. The designs were fitted with larger grates than a typical Engerth coupled-tender. The firebox sat entirely behind and above the driving axles. A large dome sat over the first and second axles. Like most Engerths, the Crampton-type boiler included a round-topped firebox.
