Class Requinoa/Tipo 12 (Locobase 21350)

Data from Chilean State Railways (EFE) diagram book, 12, supplied in August 2025 by Allen Stanley from his extensive Rail Data Exchange collection. See also Martin Coombs, Martin Coombs, Chilean steam locomotive lists, Part 1, Broad gauge locos (v2.64, March 2026), pp 16, 62 at [],pp. 16, 62. Works number was 847 in 1859.

Martin Coombs's account of the Requinoa's origins settle on the Rogers-built "Mapocho" (Tipo 9 described in Locoobase 21346), but the latter' arrived in 1863 with much larger cylinder volume and heating surface areas. The 1908 diagram identifies the engine as an 1859 Rogers product. Coombs argues both the cylilnder volume and driver diameters could have changed.

In any case, this switcher's diagram shows tiny drivers only 6" (152 mm) smaller than those of the tender. This observation may in fact reinforce Coomb''s and Moraga's opinion as 36" (914 mm) tender wheels weee likely a standard size.

The EFE withdrew Tipo 12 in 1917 or 1921.
