This class of heavy Santa Fe type engines went to the TP (often identified as Jinpu) in 1937 as drag-freight haulers.
. After the Japanese took control of Manchuria and other territories, the occupiers joined the Jinpu with other railroads into collaborationist North China Transportation Company. At that time they acquired the designation ST2 and the class name "Satani" (likely an approximation of "Santa Fe").
All 10 survived World War II to run for the China Railway after the Communist took over the country in 1949. The last revenue run for the class before 1990. ST2-22 has been preserved at the Shenyang Railway Museum.
