Central Galope was a sugar ingenio constructed at Cuba's extreme western end to redevelop sugar-growing areas that fallen out of use. It was located at San Juan y Martinez, southwest of Pinar del Rio. It would be close enough to the southern coast, said the news letter, to allow schooners to take its product either to Havana on the north coast or Cienfuegos on the south. Much recycling of earlier Ingenios' land (Centrals Guacamaya and Las Tunas) and equipment (Central Occitania) would reduce the cost of constructing the new mill.
These plantation Moguls were the larger type that rolled on standard-gauge track.
2 was later sold to Central Algodones and 3 went to Central Union. After the 1959 Revolucion, the Algodones was renamed for Orlando Gonzalez Ramirez and Central Union for Rafael Reyes. Both could still be found in 1995, although the ex-3, now renumbered 1673, was derelict.
