Iranian State Railways 2-10-2 Locomotives in Iran

Class Details by Steve Llanso of Sweat House Media

Class 52.1 (Locobase 4352)

Data from [], an account published in the Vulcan Magazine for Spring 1952. Works numbers were 6006-6045 in 1952 and 6972-6995 in 1954.

This light-footed design sported relatively capacious 12" (305 mm) piston valves. These Santa Fes had a tonnage rating of 600 tonnes (720 short tons) up a 1.5% grade and 300 tonnes (330 short tons) up 2.8%.

The article notes that equalization was divided into two groups: the leading truck and the first three coupled axles (the third one being the driven one) being one group, the fourth and fifth coupled and the trailing axle being the other. Both the leading and trailing trucks used Timken roller bearings.
