Class 10 (Locobase 13084)

Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University, Volume 30, p 185. Works numbers were 30078, 30125 in February 1907 and 32270-32271 in November.

Martin Coombs noted that at least the 10 arrived with slide valves and inside link motion. Baldwin's specs show the CdeP's operating area included a ruling grade of 2.2% and curve radii as low as 16 degrees.

When the C de P fitted the class with piston valves, they also replaced the Stephenson gear with outside Walschaert's constant-lead gear. The shops fitted all four with new boilers in 1928 (10-11, 14) and 1935 (12).

When Peru nationalized the CdeP, it now was named Centromin.


Class 40 (Locobase 13085)

More frankly drag-freight engines than the four Mikados shown in Locobase 12084, this pair served the coal mine branch that ended at Quishuarcancha. A note in the specs says that "Hereafter apply Walschaert valve gear". It's not clear if these two were retrofitted.
