The A&RM had converted to standard gauge by the time they bought this small Consolidation, which wouldn't have looked out of place on the 3-foot (914 mm) line they had just replaced. It was, in fact, one of the smallest 2-8-0s produced for the standard gauge in any country, so Locobase suspects that it was originally intended for the skinny rail.
Transforming into the Alexander & Eastern in 1906, this West Virginia railroad operated the 6 until August 1910, when they sold it to the newly opened Croft Railroad. At the time of incorporation, the CR was reported to plan a road "...from a point near Alexander in Upshur County to or near the Zenders farm in the same county ..."
The CR sold the 6 to F C Cooke, still of Alexander, in 1925.
