Data from Baldwin Locomotive Works Specification for Engines as digitized by the DeGolyer Library of Southern Methodist University Vol 28, p 293. Works number was 27925 in April 1906.
Perhaps because of delays to the completion of the standard-gauge section of Georgia short line Gainesville Midland, the GM's first 100 took a hard right and wound up on the New Mexico Midland instead.
The NMM was constructed in 1904 as a 10-mile coal hauler that connected Carthage, NM with San Antonio, NM. Presumably, then , the specs quoted for the GM suited the NMM as well: "Loco [sic] must draw 155 to 170 tons of 2000 lbs. of cars an dloading up a grade of 3% in conjunction with 14-degree curve [269-ft curve radius] at 8 to 10 miles per hour, or 450 tons on level track at 50 miles per hour."
The 1 was the only locomotive on the line for most or all of its 26 years of operation.
